That’s me. Nicole. In front of a computer is where I spend most of my days. I’m currently working on my doctoral degree in English. Reading and writing has always been my passion. As a little girl, I wrote plays and forced my sisters to act them out. However, after years of writing papers, I lost my passion. Writing wasn’t fun for me, anymore. It became a chore and a bore. So this blog is an attempt to get back to that time when I wrote not because I had to, but because it made me feel alive.
I am currently constructing a reading list for my dissertation committee, and since the process is pure craziness, I’ll document some of it here. I’ll also offer some tips to help you survive graduate school, the books I’m reading, and what I’m writing. I am working on two screenplays now, and I just recently started a young adult fiction book.
My journey through grad school hasn’t always been smooth sailing. I’m hoping that through this blog I can better understand myself as a writer while providing some laughs and hints about the graduate experience.
The Rastafari Presence in Toni Morrison’s Tar Baby, Beloved, and Song of Solomon. Available via Amazon if you’re crazy enough to buy it.
**I’m hoping I can update this page soon, as I’m currently revising articles for possible journal publications. I’m also writing my own original works. Stay tuned!*
